My husband is a film buff, he knows more about production and directorial styles than I know about the price of rice. I go to films for the popcorn and fountain coke, he goes for the cinematic experience; I forget a film the moment I leave the theatre, he can recite film quotes from movies he saw 20 years ago. I knew that one day, his love of film would come in handy, and last month when Celebrations asked me to create a line up of drinks fitting for an Oscar themed party, I knew that the moment had finally arrived. With the children tucked in, we tossed open the bar doors, and started talking film and the cocktails that captured the spirit of each one. For some reason we stuck on The Les Miserables Sipper, something about the bitter and Brandy was enough have us asking, “Same Again?”.
